![]() We started with an idea and a passion for community. The idea was to help neighbors get to know each other better, support stronger neighborhoods, and keep useable greenery and greenhouse/gardening items out of landfills. Now in our 11th year, we create strong neighborhood connections by people-to-people redistribution of green materials back into the community. In addition to our premier plant exchange, we also host community workdays, a monthly urban gardening speaker series, and partner with the horticulture industry to take in donations. ![]() Find the perfect gift at our special Valentine’s Day Plant Sale on Saturday, Feb. 10, from 9am – 1:30pm. We have a large variety of lush indoor plants and beautiful pots. Partial inventory list includes: African Violets, Bromeliads, Christmas Cactus, Fiddle Leaf Figs, Snake Plants, and more. All proceeds go towards keeping the Plant Exchange free and open to the public.See photos and flyer. Stay after from 2 – 4pm for Gardening 101: Everything You Need to Know as a Beginner Gardener taught by Jeff Bridge of Ploughshares Nursery. You will learn how to: choose soil, watering tricks, avoid common mistakes, and the basics of fertilization. Bring your questions and garden conundrums for Jeff to answer after the demonstration. From 12-4pm hundreds of gardening enthusiasts will converge at 4500 Lincoln Ave. to trade plants of all shapes and sizes, garden equipment and tools, and share best practices and tips and tricks. ![]() We would not be The Plant Exchange without our amazing volunteers! In additional to our team of over 100 dedicated individuals, we also partner with local volunteer service groups. Join us in recognizing and thanking just a few of the service groups who volunteer with us regularly. BuildOn Bay Area – BuildOn empowers urban youth to transform their neighborhoods and the world through intensive community service. Through volunteer service, they help elevate expectations of students and communities in challenging urban areas.
