On April 22nd The Plant Exchange joins thousands of people and organizations world wide in honoring our environment and recognizing the need to protect our planet. Since 1970, Earth Day has been celebrated as an annual reminder that we are custodians of the natural world and its preservation depends on us. ![]() April 22nd is an invitation to learn about our impact on the planet, raise public awareness and support for sustainable practices, engage with local leaders, and be in community. Although Earth Day only happens once a year, let it be an inspiration to adopt eco-friendly practices in our daily life and make Earthy Day every day. Together, we can build a healthier world for ourselves and future generations. The Plant Exchange, now in our 10th year, is a community and a celebration that encourages reuse, recycling, and organic living. We create strong neighborhood connections by people-to-people redistribution of green materials back into the community. Our activities keep plant and green materials out of landfills, educate the public about the benefits of gardening, promote sustainable commercial horticulture practices, and greenify urban spaces. Our mission is to encourage environmental practices and support Oakland’s designation as one of the greenest cities in the country. Join us in our mission and in celebrating Earth Day by subscribing to our mailing list, signing up to volunteer, or making a tax-deductible donation. Thank you!
