“No one has ever become poor by giving.” – Anne Frank September was a whirlwind month for The Plant Exchange. We hosted our First Annual Fall Fundraiser and hosted several fundraiser sales (both plant and estate). AND we received one of our biggest donations yet – Hundreds of indoor and outdoors ferns as well as bags and bags of colored mulch.
Our First Annual Fall Fundraiser on September 22nd was a huge success. The Bernard Maybeck home itself was an architectural masterpiece drawing inspiration from nature and the 400 year old Oak Trees surrounding the home. Guests were treated to a curated tour of the home by Mitchell Schwarzer, Professor at California College of the Arts, San Francisco and Oakland. Guests also had the opportunity to tour the botanical gardens and the home’s eclectic art collection. A classical pianist serenaded guests as they watched the sunset through floor to ceiling windows overlooking the Oakland skyline.
We are thrilled to showcase so many Oakland treasures this weekend at our Fall Fundraiser – Bernard Maybeck’s Guy Hyde Chick House, the home’s botanical garden and 400 year old oak trees, and the homeowner’s eclectic art collection. Here is a sneak peek of one of the curated tours guests will receive at the event!
