The Plant Exchange is growing and we are passionate about plants. At a time when the ravages of climate change are rampant, I think a bit of love for our carbon-dioxide eating friends is needed, don’t you? Today, The Plant Exchange is launching an incredible campaign to reach its $24,000 goal to purchase a moving truck. Thanks to a generous matching grant, we’re already half-way there! Your donation right now will fuel The Plant Exchange by letting us bring more plants, more often, to our community.

Our mission is to encourage green practices and support Oakland’s designation as one of the greenest cities in the country. Throughout the year we support other non-profits and community groups by re-distributing excess plants and trees to help beautify and enrich our neighborhoods. We recently provided Corvallis Elementary School in San Leandro with a beautiful assortment of plants generously donated by CityLeaf, an indoor plantscaping company. Just look at those before and after photos! Thank you CityLeaf for helping Corvallis Elementary School brighten and beautify their hallway.
Our final Urban Gardening Speaker Series event for the year is this Sat. from 2-4pm. Get ready for the cool season by learning the Secrets of Fall and Winter Gardening with Tom Branca, past chair of the Landscape Horticulture Dept. at Merritt College. Tom will share best practices from his 25+ years of gardening experience during this interactive and hands-on class. Bring your questions for the personalized 30 minute Q&A period after the presentation. Tickets are $10 in advance online or $12 at the door.
